Maddy and I spent the first twenty minutes of her wedding day consultation chatting about our dogs and saying hello to them through zoom! I immediately knew that Maddy and her love for her puppies were a perfect fit for us. Unfortunately, Jake had to work, so he wasn’t able to participate, but she proudly shared their love story with me.
Maddy and Jake met during their time working at the same Prescott coffee shop. For about six months, Maddy kept Jake in the friend zone, despite his efforts to take her out on multiple occasions. When Maddy finally did say yes, they became inseparable and their love story officially began! Maddy describes Jake in such a sweet and caring way. Her gratitude for his love and support was evident as she shared their story. They continued dating while Maddy finished school. Jake didn’t blink an eye when she moved to Oregon for a summer internship program, and never hesitated to move to Tucson when Maddy accepted her first job after graduation.
Over the last almost six years, they have built a life together. They bought a house and adopted their two dogs, Blue & Hank, who will appear on their wedding day blog!
his proposal
If you haven’t already figured it out, Maddy has a deep love for animals. She always told Jake that whenever he was ready to propose it better be with a puppy! Jake wanted to make sure that they devoted their time to the two furbabies they already loved on, so he chose to get her a ring instead. This made Jake a bit nervous! He held onto that vintage-style ring for six months before he finally decided it was okay that he didn’t have the puppy!
Every year, Maddy’s family gets together on Christmas Eve for dinner. This past year, they decided on Founding Father’s Tap House. When Maddy looked up at the tap screens, she saw a message written from Jake, asking her to marry him in front of her entire family! He didn’t have the puppy, but he did have all the love he could give and Maddy immediately said yes!
We finally got the chance to meet Maddy and Jake in person last night for their engagement session! They traveled all the way up from Tucson to see us, and we had so much fun together. Their adventurous and adorable personalities were amplified when they are together and we just cannot wait to see them next year on their wedding day! They will be getting married on family property in Prescott, Arizona and it is the perfect excuse for first-timers like us to visit the small town!
Here is to many more years, puppies, and adventurous stories ahead, you two! Happy Engagement!
