Christine playfully fumed trying to get out the door to the Huntington Beach Pier during their twenty-twenty-two family trip to California. “Come on, we are going to be late!” she said.
“Why are you rushing everyone? It’s fine. We have time to get to the pier, babe.”
“Gabe, you might not know this, but I am planning my own proposal here, and if we are late we won’t make it to the pier in time for the sun to set over the water as you get down on one knee and ask me to marry you!”
Christine knew exactly what she wanted for her dream proposal. She wanted Gabe to take her out to the end of the pier during a beautiful sunset on her favorite California beach in surf city, and she wanted to be able to pick out her own ring. And so she did.
the proposal
The sun was tipping over the horizon and he walked her out to the edge of the pier. Rubbing his neck nervously he courageously said, “I guess you know why we are here…”
Christine anxiously waited to see what was going to happen next. Did he find her a ring, even though she wanted to pick it out? Was he going to get down on one knee? As he dropped down and looked up into her eyes, he brought out a bag of six different ring pops. Christine got to pick out her ring right there at the moment. And when they got home she took the time to peruse for the actual ring of her dreams!
To this day, there is still some uncertainty about what flavor she actually picked up on that pier, but it doesn’t matter because she kept all six of those ring pops as keepsakes from the day she said yes! And one of those ring pops was used during their Huntington Beach Engagement Session a few weeks ago!
