The mockumentary, The Office, wasn’t ever on my radar until I met my dear friend, Sydnee. It is her absolute favorite show and she can reenact any scene. When she became pregnant with her third child, I decided to throw her a baby shower. It didn’t take me long to figure out that it had to be Office related in some way or another, so I got right to work. Everything I found during my search for inspiration was straight out of The Office. I found brown balloons, green Jello, dark colors, and a lot of things with the Dunder Mifflin logo. Syd loves the show just as it is, but I wanted to provide her something a bit more… elevated. In my mind, baby showers are supposed to include florals and light happy colors! So I got to work bringing my light and airy vision to life.

Invitation Suite: 

In my opinion, every event should include an invitation suite! The invitation sets the tone for what your guests can expect. To avoid logos and traditional themed invitations, we tied in beets in honor of Sydnee’s favorite character, Dwight (the beet farmer). We also tied in pieces from The Lecture Circuit! Typically we support local businesses like Lauren Yvonne Design for invitation suites, but because I was on a budget, I made these myself on Photoshop. I included an invitation, RSVP card, a card with additional information, and a thank you card. All of the thank you cards are preaddressed and include stamps!

The Centerpiece:

Is there a better love story than the one shared by Jim and Pam? During The Christmas Party, season 2, episode 10, Jim gets Pam for secret Santa. He gives her this sage green teapot because she loves drinking tea, but he also fills it with little memories they shared as friends.

The Cake:

It was obvious that we needed a stapler in Jello, so we thought it would be cute to make it the cake topper! Due to the size Jello mold needed to hold the mini stapler, the Jello turned out with more of an amber hue that I would prefer. The first mold I made was the best one, but due to the tint, I tried four more times to get it clearer, and of course, the last one was the murkiest! I have no suggestions for making the Jello mold other than just follow the directions on the back of the box!

Goodie Bags:

These little paper containers, made by hand by Sydnee’s mom held M&Ms to celebrate Kevin’s love for chocolate.

Sugar Cookies:

We also tied in the beets by making beet sugar cookies.

Signs:

We supported a local calligrapher, Etchings by Emma, so we had a few beautiful signs.

• Acrostic Poem “HUDSON”: This sign was inspired by Dwight’s Performance Review sign.
• Kevin and Angela: This sign is paired with the paper boxes of M&Ms because Kevin loves these little chocolate candies. Really, he loves ANYTHING chocolate! He recommends they see how many they can put in their mouth for the Office Olympics.
• Bears, Beets, Battlestar Galactica: This sign is just a letter board that I already had. I wanted to tell people that we had a photo booth set up on my tablet. The phrase we used is from “Product Recall” when Jim is impersonating Dwight!

Photo Booth:

There was a photo booth set up on my tablet with a tripod. The Photo Booth Mini app was just $6 and worked really well.

Games:

• Diversity Day: We played a politically correct version of this headband-esque game and the entire room was laughing!
• Heavy Competition: During this episode, Michael has started his own paper company. The only way they have used their time so far is by making trick shots and catching cheese balls. We did a relay race to see which side could catch the most cheese balls in their mouths within the two minute time frame! Each team loses a point for each cheese ball they step on!
• Bingo: This entire game was created from episodes, phrases, names, and hilarious content from The Office. I made this from scratch and I am thinking of putting it on Etsy. Comment below if you are interested.
• The Dundies: We purchased the certificate template from EmilysDIYs on Etsy, and it was a fun and easy way to make everyone laugh! We gave each guest an award with something funny (but kind) on it!
• The Rolling Pin: This game isn’t related to the Office, but had everyone cracking up! Everyone stands in a line and passes the rolling pin to the next person while the music is playing.  The trick is, no one can use their hands, so you pass the rolling pin between your knees. Whoever has it when the music is paused has to sit down. The last one standing wins!
