When I think of Daniel and Miranda, I think of young love, real determination, and pure excitement – for life, each other, and meeting their baby boy. There was something about them that just spoke to my heart. Maybe it is that Daniel reminds me so much of my brother, Tanner, that Miranda’s sweet mom-to-be questions remind me of when I met my daughter, Katlyn, or the love we share for our puppies. But regardless, they just filled my soul.
After being with them for eight hours, having lunch at one of our favorite places (Postino’s Of Course!) and photographing their joy over their baby bump in four different outfits and locations, I felt like we were the best of friends. It was my honor to capture such a sweet season in their lives, and I greatly appreciated their long drive from Page, Arizona so that I could do so!
Air BnB
I am sure that if you have searched at all for an Air BnB in Scottsdale, the Zona Rosa home has popped up. It is a perfectly decorated, bohemian home in South Scottsdale, with hanging chairs, a vintage Air Stream, a tub with clawed feet, and so much more. It is seriously one of my favorite Chisel Built homes and an inspiration for my own home decor. Ja’Nice Ramos, my fabulous hair and makeup artist, and I have been eyeing this house for what seems like forever. You can imagine our surprise when Miranda and Daniel chose to book their short stay in the Zona Rosa home. It was the perfect setting for their intimate maternity session and their milk bath. We even spent some time outside on the covered patio with the hanging chairs!
Long Day
After a long day at the house, we touched up hair and makeup and changed the look for their desert sunset session at Usery Mountain. The wind started picking up as soon as we arrived at Blevins Trail. The adorable side “do” with the fishtail braid Miranda was rocking, by Ja’Nice, didn’t stand a chance. I was blown off my stool on multiple occasions (short girl problems)! You know what, though? It didn’t matter. Not to Daniel and Miranda. I did my best to rearrange the bobby pins to hold back Miranda’s flying hair, Daniel continued to giggle and kiss her, and we just continued capturing their anticipation to becoming parents!
Miranda and Daniel, thank you. Thank you for traveling all the way from Page. Thank you for trusting me to not drive you crazy with a full day of portraits, thank you for the great conversations in the car and over lunch, and thank you for just being you. You are going to be amazing parents and I am so excited for you. So much love to you both!
