Our favorite kind of blog is when we can post a love story from the start. Now, we may not have had the privilege of photographing Mandy and Adam before their sweet boy, Wade, was running around, but we certainly had the wonderful opportunity to capture lots of special moment since then!
Our adventure started with the Almony Family on the Almony farm, Adam’s parents property, as we captured their family photos on a toasty summer day. Wade’s radiant blue eyes, blonde curls, and his handsome little smile are beautiful reflections of his parents.
We had such a wonderful evening with this dynamic trio as we played in the meadow and creek, and basked in the sun as it set over the fields and through the trees. Mandy is the keeper of Wade’s sweet heart, and Adam is not just his daddy, but his best friend. Seeing them just “be” together brought about a peace and serenity to our session and calmed our souls as the day turned to night.
When Mandy reached out to let us know she wanted to book one of our winter mini-sessions at Southern Sol, we were thrilled to be able to photograph them again. It was quite chilly that day, but Wade was a trooper and loved snuggling up with his mom and dad to keep warm.
We quickly found out that we were in for a surprise! Mandy didn’t just book a mini-session with us for her holiday cards, but to announce that Wade is going to be a big brother. After a few shots with Wade’s handsome plaid shirt on, Mandy walked over and helped him take it off, revealing his very special announcement, “Co-Pilot Coming Soon!” Mandy and Adam shared with us that they were thrilled to give Wade the best present they could ever give him, a sister.
We could not be more excited to share with you all that Wade’s baby sister, Eve, arrived on June 12th at 1:44 p.m. making her debut at GBMC. The same hospital Wade was born in just two years before! Eve is precious at just five days new, with perfect cheeks and her big brother’s button nose. She is 22 inches long, weighing a perfect 9 lbs. 3 oz. Waiting for her at the hospital were mommy and daddy, of course, along with her grandparents and her smitten big brother.
The first time Mandy held her baby girl she was overwhelmed with emotion. Like any other parents with hearts like Mandy and Adam’s, they shared lots of happy tears to finally meet their daughter. At the same time, Mandy wasn’t sure how she could possibly love another child as much as she already loved Wade, but as soon as she saw Eve’s head full of dark hair and her “chunky little monkey” face, so different from her older brother’s, she fell in love. Eve is beautiful, and Mandy and Adam immediately felt like she completed their family.
Wade is 2 1/2 and the center of our universe. He is the only grandchild, so he is used to getting all of everyone’s attention. We weren’t sure how he would do splitting his mommy time (he is a total momma’s boy) so we were a little nervous. He did better than we could have ever imagined. He loves her and wants to hold her all the time. He gets right in her face, plants a lot of kisses and snuggles up to her. He loves when I bring her in to get him out of bed in the mornings. He wants her to get in the crib with him where he shows her his toys (huge deal because he hates to share), covers her with his “dots” (a.k.a his blankets), and sings to her. It really is a beautiful relationship and I’m sure it will only get stronger.
Our newborn session for Eve went way better than I imagined. Wade’s newborn session was tough, he cried a lot and the photographer was not nearly as warm as the girls with MWP, so I can see why. I love the amount of time they spend on newborn sessions. With Wade’s, it felt very rushed. These ladies were so flexible with trying to get what we wanted, even when the kids weren’t cooperating. I think it was successful overall, and I can’t wait to see the pictures!!!
For anyone interested in booking a newborn session, don’t stress!!! The photographers are professionals so even when you think your baby isn’t cooperating and how could you possibly get a good picture when the baby is crying, these girls will get a great shot.
