We may have just had Julia and Andy’s engagement session at Gunpowder Falls Trail in Baltimore County, MD this past weekend, but first, we’ve got some background info to cover before we swoon over them…
Meg and Julia go all the way back to before Meg’s last name was Yohn, when Jules called her Karman! Back in the ole’ North Harford days, Julia played soccer for Meg and was one of her senior classroom aides. They were always super close when Jules was in school, but their sisterly bond only strengthened after Julia graduated. Meg helped mentor and give guidance to Jules through some of her most triumphant wins and heaviest heartaches. Whether Jules knew it or not at the time, she also supported Meg in overcoming huge physical hurdles and internal struggles, helping to shape Meg into the empathetic teacher she is today. They have always been in each others’ corners. Not just as teacher-student or player-coach, but rather as chosen fam. Forever sisters from other misters!
But this story isn’t about Jules and Meg, it’s about…
Our sweet couple met working together at Black Eyed Suzie’s in Bel Air, MD. They casually flirted with one another before finally biting the bullet and going on an official first date. After a fantastic dinner at Red Brick Station, Jules and Andy caught a flick at a nearby theater.
“Julia’s infectious personality and sense of adventure is what made me fall in love with her!”
-ANDY
Andy did his homework on this proposal, friends! Not only did he contact Meg last summer to brainstorm ideas for surprising Jules, but he also already had the ring picked out, the perfect spot to pop the question scouted, and a master plan for how he would get Julia up to the proposal location ready to go! He chose Pinnacle Overlook for the site of his wooing, as this was where they went on one of their first hikes together.
Our crafty groom arranged for Jules and him to “pick up a chandelier for his boss” at the seller’s place, which just so happened to be right near the park (wink wink, nudge nudge)! Meanwhile, he saved Meg’s number in his phone as “Bonnie,” the chandelier merchant, so they could coordinate arrival times and planned misdirections undetected by anyone who might get a gander at his phone. We told y’all, Andy’s attention to detail was on point!!!
With the help of Jess Walker, MWC’s new Day of Coordinator and resident styling guru, we were able to help bring Andy’s vision for this huge step in his and Julia’s journey together to fruition! And we’re so glad we did. Because these are the moments we live for at MWC – capturing, documenting, and celebrating the joy and love our couples share, especially when those couples are some of our favorite people on the planet!
Almost exactly smack-dab between being a year out from their proposal and away from their wedding soiree, and we were thrilled to get the chance to capture Julia and Andy’s love on camera again at their engagement session at Gunpowder Falls Trail. Julia’s siblings, Jess and Jack, helped scout the session location beforehand (thank you, you wonderful humans!), looking for the perfect backdrop that incorporated Julia and Andy’s love of all things nature, autumn, and their perfect pooch, Willow.
Though cloudy conditions and inconsistent weather forecasts threatened to derail our fun, we didn’t let it dampen our spirits! In fact, the Fall foliage was in full swing, helping to give our beautiful babes a pop of color to offset the otherwise overcast skies.
Julia and Andy, we absolutely adore you both and are so excited to see where this newest adventure leads! Know that while you’re looking lovingly into each other’s eyes and giggling your way through your wedding day, we will be right there with you celebrating every step of the way, likely fighting back tears of our own at the sheer light you bring to each other’s being. We’re so, so blessed to get the opportunity to witness and share in the joy of such colossal milestones in this life you’re building together. It means more than we could ever put into words. So, we’ll just leave you with this:
