We absolutely fell in love with Kate and Joe when they came to our home for their wedding day consultation. Not only do Kate and I have the same tattoo in the same location, but we also both love Christmas and serial killer documentaries, we were proposed to in December, and we both traveled across the country for our loves! Although I love that Kate and I have so much in common, my favorite thing about Kate being an #mwpbride is the love story she shares with Joe!
Kate and Joe met online about six years ago. They lived on opposite sides of the country, but Joe made Kate laugh all the time, so they kept in touch every few months or so. The occasional text messages consisted of napping memes and Joe reaching out to ask for assistance in decorating his apartment. (Strong tactic, Joe!) One day, Kate sent Joe a funny meme and Joe’s response consisted of an unexpected question!
“Hey! Are you still going out with that guy?”
The answer was, no!
“Are you still going out with that girl?”
Again, that answer was no!
After Kate agreed to go out with Joe on a date, he immediately booked a flight from Arizona to Boston for the chance to swoop this beautiful woman off her feet! He did just that.
That weekend was the beginning of a beautiful long-distance relationship. The next time they traveled to see each other, Kate came to Arizona. She was disappointed she only had a few days to visit, but the universe knew they needed more time together. Kate’s flight ended up being canceled three times and she was able to stay for a week. After that trip, they knew that being apart from each other just wasn’t an option and Kate started looking for a job in Arizona!
On December 15th, 2020, Kate and Joe celebrated their two-year anniversary. They were hoping to see The Nutcracker like they did the previous year, but Covid required them to change their plans. Instead, Joe took Kate to the Scottsdale Princess Light Show. He didn’t get a chance to scope it out ahead of time and felt the pressure of choosing the perfect spot to propose to the love of his life. After rushing through a few of the spots, they walked into the most beautiful section of white lights. Kate’s favorite Christmas song came on, Last Christmas by George Michael. He knew the moment had finally come! He asked a stranger to take a video, said the sweetest things, and asked Kate to marry him!
You guys, we cannot wait for your wedding day! Congratulations and thank you for sharing your love with us! When you are finished with your blog post, check out your engagement video!
