On September 9th, 2019, Kypa Allen Maples was born. He weighed in at an even eight pounds! He didn’t quite make his debut into this world as his parents, Sharaya and Jared Maples, planned. Kypa was quite content inside his mommy’s belly. After forty long hours of active labor and four failed suction attempts had passed, they were told that Kypa would need to be born by cesarean.
At 8:22 p.m. Monday night, Sharaya and Jared heard the very first cries of their baby boy from the other side of a drape in the operation room. It was at that moment, that the journey to see his sweet face just disappeared. These new parents just wanted to hold their son. From his very first days in the hospital, he waved hello to the world and took everything in one moment at a time. His sweet sounds, the way he curled up during skin to skin, and the love and support from Jared and the rest of the family assisted in Sharaya’s recovery!
Now this sweet family of three, plus two adorable fur babies, are settling into their routine at home. I absolutely loved that they shared a little bit of their morning with me during Kypa’s newborn session in their Gilbert home. When we entered the Maples’ home, we were greeted with big hugs and sleepy but beautiful smiles. Kiwi and Kona, the family pups, kept constant watch over their new baby boy! My favorite part of my time with the Maples family, however, is when Kypa met his great-grandmother. It was a lucky coincidence that we were still there when she came over for her very first visit, and it was an honor to capture the moment! When Jared called his mom during a video chat, they had four generations in the room. Jared’s grandmother spoke into the phone with pure joy in her eyes, “We make beautiful babies!”
