As the girls were finishing up the final touches of hair and makeup, I ran into the kitchen to find Dr. Magley, Mackenzie’s dad. He was rinsing out champagne glasses and staying on top of the beautiful disaster that occurs during wedding day festivities. As I let him know that the Father – Daughter first look would be soon, he looked at me with his handsome smile, lines creased around the eyes with wisdom, and giggled. He had already seen Mackenzie in her wedding gown and smiled at the idea of “staging” it for a second time. As he walked upstairs to shower and change from his work clothes to his blue suit and tie, he had no idea the emotion that would overcome him when he saw his youngest daughter in her wedding gown on her wedding day.
“within seconds tears filled the eyes of everyone in the room…”
Just twenty minutes later, MacKenzie stood in the living room of her childhood home, waiting with excitement as her dad walked into the room with his eyes closed. The sun flew into the windows and engulfed MacKenzie in a glow that made her look like an angel. With her large cascading bouquet in her hands and all of her bridesmaids close by, she asks her dad to open his eyes. Within seconds tears filled the eyes of everyone in the room, including ours. Dr. Magley’s expression went from pure surprise to happiness, and immediately into a face full of tears. Some representing the pure joy he felt in that moment, and others the slight ping of giving his baby girl away to the man of her dreams. Immediately, Dr. Magley took his daughter, always his little girl, into his embrace and held her as they both cried together.
their first chapter as husband and wife
Just a short while later MacKenzie and Mario saw each other for the first time as Dr. Magley escorted her down the aisle of their breathtaking church, St Michael’s Basilica. The moment they entered the church from their vintage car, a black Packard, Mario stood anxiously waiting for MacKenzie to make the long walk to him at the alter. The last few years have been filled with traveling, medical school, clinical rotations, internships, the beginning of residencies, time apart from each other, and minimal sleep, but today… today is the first day of their chapter as husband and wife.
The commitment these two have for each other is simply beyond words and we are honored to be a part of the family! We cannot wait to see what future chapters of this love story brings!
Mackenzie and Mario welcomed the warm sunshine during their wedding day portraits! A stark difference from the freezing temperatures during the engagement session!
