In the classic Kevin Costner movie “Field of Dreams“, there exists a famous saying that whispers,
For 30+ years, this line has been the embodiment of being on the precipice of greatness and the time being right to take a leap of faith. Well, on Saturday, an exquisite wedding took place in what was a mere soybean/cornfield just a year prior. Becca, Tyler, and the entire fam-bam team at Ridge Heights Nursery worked tirelessly in the months since constructing a fully functioning nursery from the ground up. They built it, and, true to the saying, the guests came. They also cheered, they laughed, they cried, they champ-showered, they shot-skied, and they danced the entire night away!
The transformation of the field into an operational nursery into an ethereal wedding venue was dreamlike, and it gave Becca and Tyler’s big day a magical quality that was woven into every detail. From the place settings to the signage (which Becca crafted herself!) to the florals to the first look in the greenhouse, every single moment of this wedding was worthy of the silver screen. It truly was a field of dreams.
Another iconic line from the movie, in which a character emerges from the corn, then stands in awe as he absorbs the sights and sounds of the special creation he has come to find.
There was a moment on Saturday afternoon that was Tyler and Becca’s “is this heaven?” scene. Both the bride and the groom chose to write each other a letter to read before the first look. While we won’t tell you what was written, we will tell you that both letters started the same way. Each moved the other to tears. It may have also totally moved us to tears!
Call it a coincidence if you’d like, but we believe that it was pure serendipity and evidence that two people can, in fact, build a heaven on earth with the help of a love that is deep, true, and rooted in celebrating and bringing out the best in one another.
In the movie, Costner’s character answers the question with, “No… it’s Iowa.” On this October Saturday, in a dreamscape cornfield in Whiteford, MD, we would’ve changed that scene to read:
We are so grateful for the honor of documenting and helping to celebrate the union of two incredible humans we are lucky enough to know!!!
