Jake approached his mamma as their song started playing over the speakers, echoing into the hills of Willow Creek. Up until this part of the day, Maddy and Jake’s private Prescott Estate wedding day had been less emotional and more full of fun and joyous laughter. The siblings joked, Jake gave finger guns during the first look. Mr. John, Maddy’s dad, danced on the floor belly down with his grandson. There were decorative dogs wearing top hats “peeing” on the trees. It all put me into a fit of giggles.
Until now.
Now, tears were streaming down my face. I just couldn’t stop photographing Jake and his sweet mamma, Kim, as they seemed to effortlessly float on the dance floor. Not that the rest of the day wasn’t just as a sweet as it was humorous! This moment just got me. Some people were holding their own conversations and the nephews were running around with their adorable smiles and chocolate candy coating their white button down shirts. That didn’t matter to Miss Kim. She was entranced and completely in awe of her son Jake on his wedding day. The way she looked into his eyes adoringly and smiled with true unconditional love struck a chord in my heart.
All those jokes and laughter I talked about? It all came with and from So. Much. Love. Witnessing what Maddy and Jake’s family did to get their family home wedding day ready was absolutely astonishing. During the father of the bride speech, Mr. John mentioned how amazing it was seeing all of his children come together and experience this life as best friends. He is most proud of the relationship they have built in this lifetime and who they are as both individuals and a team.
John Jr. was able to make it all the way from his station in Germany to officiate their wedding. He stood up at the alter as the wind whistled through the tree in the front yard. His sentimental yet humorous words about his sister and her soon-to-be husband brought everyone into a fit of laughter. But most importantly, he showed how much he cares for his little sister as she embarks on this new chapter.
Oh, and Maddy’s mom, Mrs. Lori. Good gracious. The way she decorated, prepped, hosted, and redecorated earned her the Mamma of the Year Award! The twenty-five mph gusts weren’t going to deter her from giving her baby girl the outdoor wedding of her dreams. The best part? She still looked drop dead gorgeous when it was time to put her baby girl into her wedding gown.
When the people you love most stand up and support you like these two families did as they came together for Mr. and Mrs. Janusek, it certainly tugs on the heart strings and speaks volumes to their character and family dynamics. It also puts a little goodwill and positive energy into the universe.
I am not going to lie. I played it cool on the wedding day, but the ninety-two degree heat and the wind gusts were certainly concerning. At one point nothing was staying on the tables and the tent was blowing two feet off the ground. We were filling vases with sand and family friends came over in a pinch to tape what they could down.
But you know what?
As the time came… everything was absolutely perfect.
The gusts died down to a calm breeze just in time for the ceremony and moments after Mr. John walked his daughter down the aisle to her almost husband, Jake, the sun hid behind the clouds. Their day ended up truly being everything they had hoped for… their fairytale, happy ever after. I am so honored that we were able to be a part of it.
Maddy and Jake. We hope you are having an amazing time in Greece and that your honeymoon continues as you enter into the next few pages of this chapter. Whether that brings you more adventures on your bikes, traveling, fur babies, or children of your own, we love and support you and hope to continue capturing your love story!
