Laughter and applause filled the reception hall at Swan Point Yacht & Country Club. Micki and Jon, seated at a small head table next to their best man and maid of honor with their respective spouses on either side of them, beamed with pure joy. Christopher, Jon’s brother, gave his best man speech, which had us all in stitches with a mixture of comedy and genuine tenderness. With each breath, Christopher shared a hilarious story about Jon, followed by a poignant memory that helped forge the path to his happily ever after. Brittany’s maid-of-honor speech was every bit as touching as she delivered her heartfelt sentiments to and about her very best friend. Anyone walking by could feel how much love radiated throughout that room.
Like we shared in their sweet Havre de Grace engagement blog, Jon and Micki met on Match.com, an internet magic-maker where many of our 2018 brides and grooms have found true love! Jon’s Match.com profile is just one of the many things that brought their guest to tears with laughter. According to his brother’s rendition, Jon was seeking a woman who loved to snuggle up, had faith in God, and played or “allowed him to play XBox video games!” When Jon met Micki, he knew she was the one. So much so, that he left his mom a sweet and enthusiastic voicemail telling her all about the woman he would one day marry! Micki was exactly what Jon was looking for, and more, and vice versa! Spend just a few minutes with this amazing couple, and you will see two fun-loving people who love unconditionally, challenge each other to reach new heights, and who would go to the ends of the earth for those they love.
A few things truly stood out to us during the Miller-Sears wedding celebration…faith, family, and friendship. These three ideals were woven into every detail of Micki and Jon’s day and will be the foundation for a long-lasting marriage full of love and happiness for Micki and Jon, as well as their beautiful daughter, Riley. As for their faith, it is strong. It stems from both sides of their family. Jon’s father is a pastor, a man with a sweet smile, a heart of gold, and a beautiful relationship with God. He was also the pastor that lead the ceremony for Micki and Jon. His humor made them giggle, his message brought tears to their eyes, and his blessing sent them off into the world as husband and wife. Family? Family is their everything, and the truly amazing part of it all is that they treat their friends like they are family. We were shocked to receive an invitation to join table one during the reception for dinner. As we tried to respectfully decline and make our way to the bar where they had a few tables for vendors, Jon shook his head and yelled out, “What are you talking about, you guys are family!” Smiles grew upon our faces and once again, tears welled up in our eyes. This couple is just extraordinary and we are so happy we had the opportunity to capture this beautiful day, not for them, but with them. Throughout the night, we were carefully sharing instructions on how to use our cameras to other family members and friends when Micki requested for us to join in for some photographs. We felt loved, welcomed, and truly part of their beautiful family. Faith, family, and friendship. Three beautiful ideals to live by.
We wish you the very best, Micki and Jon, and we are so very excited for all of your future adventures, to watch Riley grow, and to capture your family photographs with Sadie. We love you and congratulations!
