As the leaves changed colors, painting the landscape with crimson, gold, and orange hues, Nicole got down on one knee to embark on a journey that would forever alter their family’s lives. In the heart of Harford County, Maryland, a picturesque pond served as the backdrop for a story that beautifully highlights love, courage, and the changing seasons of life.

Harford County, located in northeastern Maryland, is known for its captivating natural beauty. The fall season brings a breathtaking transformation to the landscape. The rolling hills and lush forests surrounding the county are painted in vibrant autumn colors, creating the perfect setting for the family portrait session Katie had been asking for. The serene water of the pond glistened in the soft, golden rays of the autumn sun, and the trees surrounding the pond rustled in the gentle breeze.
the proposal
One of the first things Nicole said to me when we met was, “I knew right away that Katie was my girl.” She had zero hesitation. She felt the same way about proposing to Katie this evening. It just felt right. She meticulously planned every detail. She recruited family to hold onto the ring and the beautiful Afghan blanket she had made. And, she knew she wanted to incorporate their five-year-old daughter, Charlotte!
Katie was completely surprised when Nicole pulled the blanket from around their shoulders and laid it on the ground. It reads, “Katie, will you marry me? – Nicole”
Nicole bent down on one knee, with her daughter beside her, and asked Katie to be her wife. After a few nervous giggles and a “thank you!” they embraced each other with the love of a thousand years. Katie just couldn’t believe it was real.

Just as the leaves change colors in the fall, relationships, too, experience transformation and growth. Nicole and Katie’s proposal symbolized the beauty of embracing change and facing the future together, with the joyful presence of Charlotte, as a reminder of the love that binds them as a family. Their love remains steadfast and strong as the leaves change and the world transforms.

Nicole hoped to propose where she met Katie, at Rockfield Manor, but the stars didn’t align with her plans. The golden light showed up strong for us to make up for it!
