I (Jes) have had the honor of being friends with Peter for over a decade. It is crazy to think we were just crazy teenagers at that time, but we met through a mutual friend and have been tight ever since! Peter was my daughter Katlyn’s first crush (when she was five-years-old), the dance king at our wedding, and the artist of all the drawings in our home. When he met Lillie, she immediately became a member of the family too. Her sweet demeanor, love for children, and contagious giggles made it hard not to love her. We totally see how Peter fell head over heels.
Peter and Lillie have grown so much together over the years. As Peter got his first job out of college and Lillie finished her early education degree to become a kindergarten teacher, they bought their first home together and got their puppy, Bruno!
the engagement
Back in July of 2018, Peter and Lillie traveled to Italy and Greece for a sweet getaway. They spent the day together on Capri, an island off the western coast of Italy where they decided to go on a hike that ended up being much longer and more difficult than expected. What they didn’t know was that the views were going to be well worth the work! Peter had been carrying the ring he planned to give to Lillie in his bookbag all day long. He even had a special box made so that if she found it, she wouldn’t know what it was.
Peter had been searching for the best time to propose, patiently and anxiously waiting. As they came around a corner of the trail, they saw the best view of the day and Peter knew it was time. As they stood a couple of hundred feet from the water, looking down a cliff of Faraglioni rock formations, he grabbed the ring. Lillie was soaking up the view at the overlook and when she turned around she found Peter down on one knee. He didn’t have his words planned, and he thinks it showed, but Lillie didn’t care. She said, “Yes!” To celebrate their engagement they went to the clifftop winery and spent the evening taking in each other and all the views that Italy had to offer.
reservoir park
This week we spent the evening with them at Reservoir Park. One of their favorite places in York, PA. They brought their furbaby, Bruno, a Great Dane, a bottle of wine from their trip to the Cape Cod Winery back in 2014, and a blanket. It was absolutely perfect. We spent the evening overlooking their town of York, similar to how they overlooked the water in Capri just a little over a year before! We absolutely cannot wait for their wedding day at The York Agricultural and Industrial Museum in July 2020, exactly two years after their proposal!

[…] Peter and Lillie’s parents dabbed their teary eyes as a longtime family friend, Pete, spoke as the officiant at their ceremony. The sun was peaking through the dark clouds leaving the chance of a thunderstorm a mystery. The breeze was warm and the love and energy present in the midst of their dear friend’s back yard was palpable. Pete shared how he witnessed Peter and his brother, Adam, grow from a very young age. He was there to celebrate family milestones, birthdays, and graduations. The most beautiful thing, however, wasn’t how Peter and Adam eventually gained some muscle to “their scrawny arms,” but how they both found love in this life. Adam found Amanda, and Peter found Lillie. […]
