From Teen Years to True Love
I (Jes) have had the honor of calling Peter a friend for over a decade. It’s wild to think we were just teenagers when we met. Even back then, he was someone you just knew would be in your life for the long haul. He quickly became part of our family: my daughter Katlyn’s very first crush (she was five!), the dance king at our wedding, and the artist behind all the drawings hanging in our home.
When Peter met Lillie, she fit right in from the start. Her warmth, love for children, and infectious giggles made it easy to see why Peter fell so hard. She’s been a perfect addition to our circle ever since.
Together, they’ve built a beautiful life. They bought their first home, welcomed their Great Dane, Bruno, and grew side by side as Peter began his career and Lillie stepped into her calling as a kindergarten teacher.
A Cliffside Proposal in Capri
In July of 2018, Peter and Lillie set off on a romantic adventure to Italy and Greece. One day on the island of Capri, they decided to hike a scenic trail that turned out to be far more intense than expected. But the reward? Absolutely breathtaking.
Peter had been carrying the ring in his backpack all day! He had it cleverly disguised in a box so Lillie wouldn’t suspect a thing. As they rounded a curve and came upon the most stunning view yet—cliffs overlooking the Faraglioni rock formations—Peter knew it was time. While Lillie admired the view, Peter knelt behind her, ring in hand. He didn’t have a speech prepared, and he says it showed, but none of that mattered. Lillie turned, saw him on one knee, and said yes.
They celebrated their engagement at a clifftop winery, sipping wine and soaking in the views of Italy—and of their future together.
A Sunset Session at Reservoir Park
This week, we met up with Peter and Lillie at Reservoir Park—one of their favorite spots in York, PA. It was the perfect location to echo that cliffside moment in Capri, overlooking their town the same way they once gazed over the Mediterranean.
They brought along Bruno, a bottle of wine from their 2014 Cape Cod trip, and a cozy blanket to watch the sun set over the valley. It was relaxed, intimate, and full of joy—just like them.
We cannot wait to celebrate their wedding at the York Agricultural and Industrial Museum in July 2020—exactly two years after that unforgettable proposal in Capri.

[…] Peter and Lillie’s parents dabbed their teary eyes as a longtime family friend, Pete, spoke as the officiant at their ceremony. The sun was peaking through the dark clouds leaving the chance of a thunderstorm a mystery. The breeze was warm and the love and energy present in the midst of their dear friend’s back yard was palpable. Pete shared how he witnessed Peter and his brother, Adam, grow from a very young age. He was there to celebrate family milestones, birthdays, and graduations. The most beautiful thing, however, wasn’t how Peter and Adam eventually gained some muscle to “their scrawny arms,” but how they both found love in this life. Adam found Amanda, and Peter found Lillie. […]
